School Age
Child Care (SACC) is an exciting and challenging place, provided in a safe environment in which your children can learn practical and social skills, while having fun. Our programs are inclusive and offer a combination of free-choice and structured age appropriate activities. Our expanded curriculum includes help with homework, math and reading tutoring, drumming, arts/science, Cooking Matters Program, character development and conflict resolution. Our Early Childhood Education program promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of your child and responds to the needs of the entire family. Our preschools are inclusive and follow the Opening the World of Learning (OWL) curriculum, which incorporates all domains of learning, including those listed above, as well as language and communication. Holiday Camp
This program is designed for parents during those days when Kalamazoo Public Schools scheduled off to solve your child care needs. All day care is provided at the Y Maple Branch from 6:30a-6p. Activities will include swimming, field trips, health and fitness, themed projects, outside activities, healthy snack making and lots of fun!
Holiday camp is a separate program and registration for this must be completed prior to the camp. If you are pre-registered, you will receive a discounted rate.
Snow Day Care
There may be times when Kalamazoo Public Schools are closed, so the YMCA provides continued care at the Y Maple Branch from 6:30a-6p. Your children will have fun in a supervised, enjoyable environment. Activities on snow days include gym games, healthy snack making, health and fitness, swimming and sledding. Snow Day camp is a separate program and registration for this must be completed prior to the camp. Healthy Kids University (ages 6-10) - Members Only
A great program for kids ages 6-10 to meet friends, get active and have fun, while parents do the same. Healthy Kids University meets early evenings at both the Maple and Portage Branches. Come for the entire time or part of it. Activities vary by day and location. This is free to youth members. Available at Maple & Portage branches.
Lincoln After School Program (grades K-6)
Our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for your child after school. The program focuses on reading and fluency development, as well as active play. The program meets Monday-Friday from 3p-5:30p. Available at Lincoln.
Tot Spot
Need a nurturing place for your child while you work out? We provide childcare for our members and participants while they are onsite for up to three hours, for a small fee. Hours vary by branch. For more information, go to our website or talk to our Members Services staff. Available at Maple & Portage branches.
Youth Center (grades 6-8)
The Youth Center, at the Maple Branch offers older kids who may not be ready to stay home alone or want to hang out with friends after school, a fun and supervised environment. Activities available include Wii games, foosball and other table top games and sports. The Youth Center also offers a computer lab and homework space, special events, and a healthy option snack bar.
