The YMCA believes tennis is a game for life! Tennis provides great health benefits by improving bone density and increasing cardiovascular fitness levels.
The YMCA offers tennis instruction to all ages and level of players, from new players to those who have been playing for years. Tennis classes run all year round with our outdoor and indoor tennis courts at both Portage and Maple Branches.
For those who enjoy playing regularly and enjoy the social aspect of the game, we offer leagues and team opportunities at both locations.
Adult Introduction to Tennis
(No NTRP Rating)
An adult tennis class designed for the first time player to the sport. Technique and stroke production are introduced.
This class gives novice players the skills and confidence by using transitional balls to learn to play singles and doubles.
This class fine tunes the fundamentals for players with previous playing/lesson experience.
High-intensity practices with the overall objective of developing all-court players. Pro approval is needed.
Tennis Racquet Stringing & Regripping

Womens Doubles League
Womens doubles leagues ranging in levels of 2.5 NTRP through 3.5 NTRP. Registration required. Contact Erik Anderson at (269) 324-9622 x426 for information.
Private Lessons with a Pro
Lessons are scheduled based on individual tennis professionals available times and court space. The cost for a lesson varies on the tennis professional. For information or to schedule a lesson call the Maple Branch at (269) 345-9622 x170 or the Portage Branch at (269) 324-9622 x426.
Mens Doubles League
Mens doubles league 3.0-3.5 NTRP. League runs on Thursday night from 7:30pm-9:00pm. Registration required.

Swing a tennis racquet and burn calories with this high-intensity one-hour aerobic workout. Everyone is invited to join, regardless of skill level. Non-marking soles are required. Tennis racquets may be provided.
Fall, Winter, and Spring classes are offered at the Maple branch on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am-9:30am and at the Portage Branch on Tuesday from 7:30pm-8:30pm and Friday from 6pm-7pm, September - June 5th, 2017.
Summer classes are offered at the Maple branch on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30am-9:30am and at the Portage Branch on Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-7pm, June 13th - August 24th, 2017.

Drop in is $5 for a Y Member and $11 for Non-member.
Mens Drop In
Sign up for singles or double play on Tuesdays or Thursdays from noon to 1:30pm. Cost is only $6 for Y members and $10 for non-members; we provide the new balls! Please sign up no later than 10am on the day you want to play. The program runs October through April.
The YMCA hosts many competitive teams of varying ages and ability levels. Womens' 2.5 to 4.0, Men's 3.5 to 4.0, plus Mixed Doubles, and Senior Teams. Ask our staff about a team that may be right for you. Call Matt at Maple Street (269) 345-9622 x120 or Erik at Portage (269) 324-9622 x426.
Every Friday is Members day! Reserve and pay for 1 hour of court time, get an additional 1/2 hour
free on Fridays. Guests are welcome to play with a member for the guest fee of $10.
Adult Tennis Mixers
A great way to meet other adult tennis players. The mixer will consist of tennis games and drills with match play. Come join the fun out on the tennis courts. Tennis Mixers run once a month October through April.
