The Y is pleased to announce it will offer a new program, Group Golf Lessons for juniors and adults through Sharon King, LPGA golf professional.

Sharon graduated from The University of Georgia, played on its golf team, and became a Class A teaching pro. She has been a Club and Teaching pro in Florida in New Port Richey, in Chicago at Medinah Country Club, and the Kalamazoo Country Club.

ABOUT THE CLASSES: All participants will be given video analysis of their swing which will be sent to them throughout the lessons. This class is available for new or experienced players, juniors and adults.

Lessons will cover the full swing and short game (chipping, pitching, putting and sand.)

Lessons will take place at The Dome on 12733 131 N in Schoolcraft.

Says Don Seibert, Portage Youth Development Director, "It's very exciting to be able to offer this program in a community that is so rich in golf courses. Golf is a sport that can be played by anyone at any age for a lifetime of enjoyment and physical exercise. We're expecting that a lot of people don't play because they are daunted by its perceived complexity. Lessons by a professional are the best way to break through the myths. And once a person gets the basics of golf, he or she can enjoy swinging clubs all year round!"

Register now, classes start January 10.
