Announcement regarding Y membership and program accounts during the required statewide closure

In accordance with the Governor s requirement we will be closing our membership facilities and suspending all Y programs, workshops and events beginning at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16th through Monday, March 30th. All YMCA locations will be deep cleaned and sanitized while they are closed. We are scheduled to re-open Tuesday, March 31st.

We urge you to support the Y and help us continue delivering vital programs and services to the community, by keeping your membership active during this crisis. Even while our membership branches are closed, YMCA staff are looking for ways to play a role in serving vulnerable populations in Kalamazoo and Portage and assisting those who need us most during these unprecedented times. Unless you specify otherwise, the portion of your membership fees already paid by bank draft/credit card for the period March 16-30 will be regarded as a donation which will enable us to meet critical needs for those who rely on the YMCA. You will receive a gift acknowledgement letter for tax purposes. If you do not wish for us to recognize your dues as a donation, please let us know and the remaining balance will be credited to your account and can be used for future charges.

At this time the Y is scheduled to re-open before payments for the next month are due on April 1. In the instance that you prefer to place your membership On Hold, there is a $15 fee to enact a freeze on your April 1 payment. Your membership would then automatically restart on May 1. Placing a Hold on your membership as opposed to cancellation would have the added benefit that we would waive your requirement to pay the $75 reactivation fee for memberships that are cancelled. YMCA staff will be available to answer phones from 8am-4pm on Mondays-Fridays, and 10am-2pm Saturdays and Sundays during the closure. For memberships that are paid annually, your membership will be extended to account for lost time.

Programs: In accordance with our standard policy on class cancellations, a prorated credit will be posted to your account for the unused portion if you paid for a program that was canceled before its completion.
