FAQ

Family Fitness is closing and transferring members to the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo. What does this mean?

For Family Fitness members who have paid in full for your contract, that contract will be honored at the YMCA up through your original contract date. (You may want to ask Family Fitness if you are not sure what that date is.) For members who are paying by monthly bank draft, Family Fitness and the YMCA are working together to have your membership and payment information transferred electronically without interruption. Your rate for a basic membership will not change throughout 2020. For Silver Sneakers, Silver & Fit, or other third-party programs, we will be happy to enroll you upon your first YMCA visit.

When will this take effect?

Beginning Saturday, Feb. 1, you will be able to begin using our YMCA facilities as long as you bring your Family Fitness membership card and a personal I.D. You will be able to get your YMCA membership card as soon as the data transfer is complete. This process is underway, but at this time we do not have a specific date when it will be completed. We will keep this section updated with the latest information as soon as we have it.

What will my YMCA membership include?

Membership at our YMCA includes access to our health & wellness facilities, gymnasiums, swimming pools, racquetball courts, and much more. Many of our group exercise classes are included at no additional cost. Members also have reduced fees for programs such as child care, swim lessons, sports programs, tennis, etc.

You will have guest access to more than 2,500 YMCAs across the country as part of our Nationwide reciprocity program, including some of our neighboring Ys. The Portage and Maple St. YMCA locations will be your home base.

Both YMCA locations have a Kids Zone that is available for an additional monthly fee of $6.

What about Personal Training?

We have certified personal trainers at both YMCA locations who would love to meet with you and discuss a program that meets your needs. If you have pre-paid for a personal training package at Family Fitness, that agreement does not transfer to the YMCA and you will need to speak with Family Fitness about your options.

How is the billing process being transferred?

Billing will continue automatically through Family Fitness through April 30, 2020 according to your current schedule. This time-period is required to sync our electronic billing systems. The YMCA bills once a month on the first of each month. Our first draft from your account will take place May 1, 2020. If you have any questions about your billing prior to May 1, please contact Family Fitness Center.
