Virtual / Remote Events and Activities
Family Fun through the YMCA
Our Youth Development Staff members are excited to be able to interact with our youth members again through virtual, remote activities made possible by the ZOOM platform. Each week, we will offer different activities fun for the whole family or just youth. Join us as we lead you in a variety of activities to bring fun into your home.

This class will help your child learn the basics of dribbling, shooting and passing through drills, activities, and skill-related games.
This class will introduce and develop your child's dribbling techniques, shooting form, and the ability to make proper passes through drills and activities.
Ballet (Ages 5-8) - Not currently being offered
This ballet class is perfect for the ballet beginner. Basic ballet skills, balance, jumps, and turns will be achieved by the end of the session. Ballet slippers or socks are required.
Jazz/Hip Hop Dance (ages 6-12)
This class will teach the basics of jazz and hip hop as well as some contemporary dance movement. Great for dancers with no experience, and for others looking to improve their skills. Jumps, turns and combinations will be explored every week.
This class teaches participants about the sport of fencing, from skilled instructors with Triblade Academy. Equipment is provided; please wear comfortable gym attire.
Juniors Golf Lessons
Participants will learn to drive (irons and woods), short game (chipping, putting, sand, and pitching), play on a short course. and receive a video analysis. Clubs and balls will be provided. Class taught by golf pro Sharon King at The Dome in Schoolcraft on US-131.
This class is available for new or experienced players.
This class is intended to develop the whole person in mind, body and spirit while teaching effective self-defense skills for the practitioner. Practice of this art develops strong character through its five primary tenets: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit

Gilmore Piano Lab Elementary
Small group piano lessons for elementary-aged students in the Gilmore Piano Lab. The elementary lab is for students with no previous piano or music reading experience. Continuing piano classes provided upon request. Digital pianos and music will be provided. The 14-week class culminates in a private recital for students and families.
Gilmore Piano Lab Level 1
Small group piano lessons for middle school students in the Gilmore Piano Lab. Level 1 is for students with no previous piano or music reading experience. Digital pianos and music will be provided.
Gilmore Piano Lab Level 2
Small group piano lessons for middle school students in the Gilmore Piano Lab. Level 2 is for students continuing their piano education post-Level 1. Digital pianos and music will be provided.
Pint Size Play
Ages 18-36 Months
This class includes free play, games, music, and parachute time that stimulates cognitive development and physical and social skills. Parent and child interaction throughout the session.

Homeschool Gym Class
Soccer class not currently being offered
This class introduces dribbling, shooting, passing, teamwork, sportsmanship, and having fun while learning.
This class builds on skills learned in Itty Bitty, with emphasis placed on dribbling, shooting, passing, teamwork, sportsmanship, and having fun while learning.
Sporties for Shorties
This class develops skills like throwing, catching, kicking, and more. This is a great introduction to football, soccer, gymnastics, baseball, volleyball, floor hockey, and lacrosse.
The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo's youth sports camps are designed to develop specific sports-related skills for school-age youth. Both the Maple and Portage sites offer half-day sports camps during summer, winter, and spring breaks. Participants will learn new skills, meet friends, and have fun. Be sure to bring a waterbottle and snack everyday to camp.

Taekwondo offers a great way for children & adults to build confidence, self-esteem, respect, discipline, strength, flexibility, and patience in a teamwork setting. Our instructor will teach you to channel energy into a positive attitude in a fun and active atmosphere.
