To ensure our facility remains safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone, the Maple Branch will undergo its annual deep cleaning and scheduled facility maintenance from Monday, August 24 through Monday, September 7.

We intentionally schedule this annual work during the transition between summer and fall programming to minimize the impact on your daily routines.

Here are the key details and timelines you need to know:

1. WATER MAIN & TEMPORARY CLOSURE| Monday, August 24 (5:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

  • Temporary Closure: The entire Maple facility—including 24/7 access—will be closed on Monday, August 24, from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Reason: The City of Kalamazoo is servicing connector valves on the main water lines, resulting in zero water service (no restrooms, sinks, or drinking fountains) during this window.
  • Reopening: The building and non-aquatic program areas will reopen for normal operations at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 24.

2. AQUATICS AREA CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE | Monday, August 24 – Monday, September 7

  • Area Affected: The Lap Pool, Instructional Pool, and Hot Tub will be closed for two weeks.
  • Scope of Work: Pools and Hot Tub will be fully drained for deep grout and tile cleaning, painting, and other maintenance /cleaning projects.
  • Locker Room Access: All locker rooms will remain fully open and accessible throughout this period. Access doors leading directly into the Aquatics Center will be locked for safety.

3. PARKING LOT RESEALING & STRIPING | Early Week of August 24

  • Work Scope: The main parking lot will be sealed and striped in sections (weather permitting).
  • Overflow Parking: Parking will be available directly across the street in the lot behind the church.
  • A Kindly Reminder: If you are comfortable walking the short extra distance from the church lot, please consider parking there to reserve space closer to the entrance for members with mobility challenges.

We are appreciative to coordinate the City's water infrastructure work alongside our own facility upgrades to streamline these interruptions into a single timeframe.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and support as we invest in keeping your YMCA in top shape!
