Youth Flag Football Leagues

Registration:

June 10, 2023 - August 24, 2024

Late Registration:

August 25 - September 8 ($10 late fee)
During late registration, players will be assigned to teams where roster spots are available.

Cost:

Grades Pre-K through K — Member: $35 / Community: $45
Grades 1 through 8 — Member: $75 / Community: $85

Players' Clinic

• Saturday, September 7
• Grades 1-2 will meet 9:00-10:30am
• Grades 3-4 will meet 10:45am-12:15pm
• Location: TBD
• Will feature lessons on
  • Snapping
  • Receiving
  • Passing
• Participants will also scrimage in their group
• Cost: $15 per player

Coaches' Clinic

• August 26th
• 8:00pm via Zoom

Schedules will be available by September 9. 

Coaches: 

• Teach the foundations of football.
• Ensure players play an equal amount of time. 
• Communicate with participants and families. 
• Coach each player to the best of their ability.
• Treat all athletes, families, and YMCA staff and administration with the YMCA core values.

Parents:

• Understand the concussion protocol.
• Support all volunteer coaches.
• Encourage all players to do their personal best.
• Treat all athletes, families, YMCA staff, and administration with the core values.
• Communicate all concerns and issues to Don Seibert.

Players:

• Be attentive at practice and ready to learn.
• Encourage all teammates during practices and games.
• Do the best of your ability at all times.
• Teach your parents what you learn at practice and during games.
• And most importantly... HAVE FUN!

• Participants will receive an NFL reversible jersey, along with their own NFL belt with flags. 
• Players MUST wear a mouthpeice.

Team rosters are limited to a maximum of seven players. 
Players will be notified by their head coach about team placement, as well as the time, day, and location of their practice.

Special Requests:
When registering, families can request one player, or coach, to be assigned to the same team. We cannot guarantee special requests during late registration.

The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo offers a variety of sports leagues and classes for youth of all ages. Through sports and fitness, we provide the opportunity to build self-esteem, learn fundamentals, and develop in body, mind, and spirit. 

Values taught are good sportsmanship, playing to the best of one's abilities, and appreciating the abilities of all players, coaches, and officials. This program's success could not be possible without the support of our community and our volunteers. Y Youth Sports allow each child an equal opportunity to participate without the pressure of winning. Assistance is available for those facing financial barriers.

Financial assistance may be available based on family size and income. Applications are available at Member Services at each branch location. Proof of income is required.

When will practices begin?

Practices will begin the week of September 2, 2024.

When and where will practices be held?

Practices are held at local schools and parks, Monday - Friday in the evening hours. 

When and where are games played?

Games will be played on Saturdays, September 14 - October 19. Locations are TBD. 

What time will my game be?

8:30am, 9:45am, 11:00am, 12:15pm, 2:00pm, 3:15pm.

When will the schedule be available?

The schedules will be completed by September 9, 2024. They will be posted on this page and emailed to coaches.

When will I receive a call from a coach? 

Coaches will contact players before Labor Day. COACHES: All teams will need an adult coach before teams will begin practice. 

Why have I not been contacted by a coach?

The YMCA may still be in need of a volunteer coach for the team your child is on.

What is the Player’s Clinic?

It is for the players to go through football drills to improve the skills they already have. The players will also scrimmage at the clinic.  Players Clinic day, time and location is TBD.

What do I have to provide for my child?

All players need to wear a mouthpiece. If they are not wearing a mouthpiece, they cannot practice or participate in games. 

What size ball is used?

1-2 Grade - Nerf, pee wee, or junior size football
3-6 Grade – Pee Wee size football
